Welcome to this week’s ’s Capsules. Last week, we began looking at the third category of talented folks and I shared Yewande Zacchaus’ story. Today, I am going to share a bit about the story of another man who had the guts to snub the golden handcuffs of his mouth-watering job for his talent and his amazing results, a few years later.

The reason I story tell a lot of times to get you to understand that whatever decision you might be battling with taking, has already been taken and overcome by several other people. Invariably, you must understand that you are not alone. Strive to read the biographies of great men if you truly are hungry for greatness because, embedded in these stories are wake up calls for everyone who truly desires success.

Jimi Tewe (CEO Inspiro Consulting) is a fine young man who snubbed the golden handcuffs of a fantastic bank manager position to face his dreams. I am going to quote an excerpt from one of his Black Berry broadcast messages which I received some years back.

‘’ I had the privilege of working in the Nigerian Banking Industry for three years and seven months. One thing that marked my mind was the degree of frustration and illusion driven living that most bankers are living with….. To make matters worse, the reward the industry offers has become ‘Golden Handcuffs’ that literally holds many of them in what I call ‘Corporate Slavery’….. For God sake, at what stage is it too late to decide to live the life you want to live? Will you continue to live in fear instead of facing the fear of what is keeping you from your future?….. Five years ago I left my N920,000.00 (Nine hundred and twenty thousand naira) monthly salary, Senior Manager Banking Job to chase my dreams. Five years after I am getting International Awards & Finances from that same dream….’’

You heard it all from Jimi Tewe. Need I say more?

Punch line, you must break off those golden handcuffs at some points because whether gold, brass, bronze, iron or zinc, handcuffs are handcuffs and are won by captives!
